World Heritage Listed But Needing A Makeover |

The Sydney Opera House has been added to the world heritage list of culturally significant sites, by the United Nations, joining the likes of India’s Taj Mahal, China’s Great Wall and Egypt’s pyramids. The Opera House Trust is now expected to lobby the state and federal governments to fund a multi-million dollar opera theatre redevelopment. "Apart from anything else it's known all over the world as an opera house and it's certainly the worst opera theatre of all capital cities in Australia now,” architect Elias Duek-Cohen said. "It's functionally very inadequate, something has to be done and I understand they are looking all over the world about raising funds.” Read more here.
