Masterclass For Victorian Actors

ImageThe Equity Foundation, together with Film Victoria, is proud to announce a very special opportunity for Victorian Equity members; a one off opportunity to spend four hours workshopping scripts with Wesley Enoch, the writer and director of classic Australian theatre. Wesley will work with 20 financial Victorian members on Wednesday October 7 from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm at Chunky Move, 113 Sturt St, Southbank. Wesley Enoch Biography

Wesley Enoch has written and directed extensively for the stage. He is the eldest son of Doug and Lyn Enoch, who hail from Stradbroke Island.

Most recently, Wesley directed The Man From Mukinupin for Company B which will also open at the MTC in May. Prior to this, Wesley directed Yibiyung, a co-production with Malthouse Theatre and Company B and Furious Mattress also for Malthouse Theatre. Wesley is currently rehearsing One Night the Moon at Malthouse Theatre.

In 2007, Wesley’s The Story of the Miracles of Cookie’s Table, was directed by Marion Potts for the Griffin Theatre Company. Wesley was the winner of the 2005 Patrick White Playwright’s Award for this play. Earlier this year, he directed Howard Brenton’s Paul and Alana Valentine’s Parramatta Girls. Parramatta Girls earned Wesley a 2007 Helpmann award nomination for Best Direction.

Wesley directed Louis Nowra’s classic Capricornia and Maralinga by Paul Brown in 2006 for Company B, Belvoir St. The previous year Wesley’s Black Medea was remounted as a co-production with Malthouse Theatre and Company B.

Wesley directed Riverland for Windmill Performing Arts and the Adelaide and Perth International Festivals and Eora Crossing, a spectacular free outdoor event for Legs on the Wall and the Sydney Festival in 2004. That same year, Wesley directed Rainbow’s End and Bitin’ Back for Kooemba Jdarra as well as Headhunter for Polygot Puppet Theatre/Ilbigerri Aborginal and Torres Strait Islanders Cooperative.
