NSW Govt Lets Down Film & TV Crew
Wednesday, 11 June 2008

NSW Govt Lets Down Film & TV CrewThe Alliance condemns the NSW Government's failure to deliver on Premier Morris Iemma's promises to revitalise the film industry in New South Wales. Additional funds for the film and television industry in last week's budget would have been a signal that Iemma and his government take the industry seriously. But no additional allocation was announced and the industry is still awaiting his reforms. Read full press release here. Last month the Alliance launched Lights, Camera, More action! - a campaign to bring the NSW film incentives in line with other states.

20/06/2008 NSW film legislation
The NSW Government introduced its Film Friendly Legislation last week, passing the lower house on Thursday. It has now being debated in the Upper House. This legislation is implementing the announcement to "slash red tape" made earlier this year. However the Alliance's Light, Camera, More Action campaign is seeking more significant changes, such as an upfront payroll deduction and specific post-production rebates, to bring NSW film incentives in line with other states. 23/05/08 Lights, Camera, More Action!
The Alliance recently launched a new campaign for film technicians in NSW. Postcards will be sent to Frank Sartor, Minister for the Arts, urging him to address the lack of work coming into NSW due to inferior incentives. Members were sent postcards and asked to return them by the May 30. The Alliance has extended that deadline until further notice. If you need more post cards please contact Claire Montgomery on 02 9333 0953

09/05/08 NSW film industry vote
Delegates at the Australian Labor Party conference on Saturday voted in favour of the Alliance's motion calling on the NSW government to introduce incentives that will attract foreign and local productions to NSW and increase the work opportunities for local technicians. For more information about this campaign please contact Claire Montgomery on 02 9333 0953 or Claire.montgomery@alliance.org.au

24/04/08 Lights Camera campaign begins
The first phase of the Alliance's new campaign to improve the NSW film industry and create more job opportunities for crew members has begun. In the next week members will receive postcards that tell the NSW government to bring the incentives offered in NSW to attract film production in line with other states.
