Alliance Announces Confidentiality Of Sources Appeal
Wednesday, 04 July 2007
Alliance Announces Confidentiality Of Sources AppealIn the wake of former Customs official Allan Kessing’s sentencing last week for leaking confidential information, the Alliance has established a new “Confidentiality of Sources Appeal” and is now inviting donations. Kessing has maintained his innocence and vowed to appeal the case, which has reportedly cost more than half his superannuation payout. “The Media Alliance urges the government to use this as an opportunity to reform the legislation, to combine protections for whistleblowers with meaningful shield laws for journalists, and show their commitment to a free press and official accountability,” Alliance Federal Secretary Christopher Warren said. The appeal will be held open until 31 August 2007, with donations going toward legal fees for Allan Kessing. For details on how to donate click 'Read more...'

To donate to the Alliance’s Confidentiality of Sources Appeal, you can make a cheque payable to “MEAA – Sources Appeal”, or EFTPOS:

Or post a cheque to:
