The 2008 Australian Press Freedom Media Dinner
Media ALlianceThe Australian Press Freedom Media Dinner unites a diverse range of journalists, entertainers and thinkers ahead of World Press Freedom Day (May 3). It is a reminder that many journalists brave death or jail to hold those in power accountable and keep the public informed.

The freedoms we take for granted are under threat in many countries. Almost 200 journalists and media workers have been killed over the past five years in the Asia-Pacific region alone.  For further information visit www.ifj.org and www.ifj-asia.org

The Australian Press Freedom Dinner also features the launch of the 2008 Press Freedom Report, a retrospective analysis of the Australian media’s triumphs and setbacks in the past 12 months.
