Alliance launches piracy crackdown

The devastating affect piracy is having on the Australian entertainment industry, and the livelihood of those who work in it, is one of the issues the National Performers Committee (NPC) of Actors Equity discussed at their meeting in Sydney today. The issues facing performers, and all sections of the Alliance, will be considered further at the Alliance Federal Council, which is meeting in Sydney on Friday and Saturday to determine the strategies that will guide the union over the next two years.

This afternoon the NPC heard from the Executive Director of the Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft (AFACT), Adrianne Pecotic, about impact piracy is already having on performers’ income and will continue to have without immediate action. NPC has called on all performers to get involved in the push against piracy.
