Equity distributes residuals to actors

Residuals collected for the quarter ended August 31 shows an increase in the number of productions being collected and distributed by Equity, with 1599 cheques worth $1.5m being released to performers. Residuals for 51 offshore productions have been collected and distributed this quarter including Pacific and Terra Nova The Matrix films, Ghost Rider and Wolverine continued to make good returns.   

An increase in collections of local television series has shown that production companies are looking more and more to the Alliance to make disbursements on their behalf. These types of collections did not exist ten years ago.  It is expected that this trend will steadily rise in the next 12 months as production companies find disbursement obligations more and more costly and time consuming.
