dgstonesphotography.blogspot.com/About
Hi, and thanks for dropping by to learn a bit about me. I’m a professional Australian journalist, photographer, and writer. My business is Darren Stones Visual Communications and I provide photographic products and writing services for improving the visual communications of travel, tourism, corporate, publishing and retail businesses. I am a skilled researcher who plans and carries out writing and photography projects. In my spare time I enjoy developing writing and photography programs to assist people to improve their knowledge and skills.
Travels
My travels are Australian based, with my favourite states being Victoria and New South Wales. I prefer apartment and motel style accommodation as I like my creature comforts. Admit to being a lover of the coast as I find it soothing and a great opportunity to cleanse the soul. I have a soft spot for Merimbula on the far south coast of New South Wales where Bronwyn and I have been visiting since January 1987 – we know the place like the back of our hand. My preference is to travel by car as I like to stop for an impromptu photo opportunity.
Writing
My writings include: travel features, event coverage, interviews, columns, opinion pieces, travel photography advice, and reviews. I have been published online, in magazines, and I’m currently writing a comprehensive travel guidebook.
Photography
An award-winning photographer and have won numerous photographic competitions. My photography has been published in magazines, newspapers, travel guidebooks, corporate journals, and calendars. One of my photographs is on permanent display at the Melbourne Museum as part of The Melbourne Story exhibition. Photography is also featured on Australian Geographic. ‘Outstanding Contributor’ award winner on two occasions at Picture Australia – National Library of Australia. Winner of the prestigious Bronze Statuette for Photography at the Henry Lawson Festival of Arts.
