International Support For Actors' Strike

The offshore commercials strike currently underway in Australia continues to gather support from far and wide. Last week the International Federation of Actors, which is made up of more than 100 organisations from 70 countries, publicly passed a resolution expressing strong support for striking Australian actors and calling for SPAA to immediately commence negotiations with Equity to reach an agreement. Letters of solidarity continue to pour in from individual performers and performers’ unions in the US, Canada, New Zealand and the UK.

 
Auditioning For Musical Theatre Masterclass

Are you an actor who sings but hasn’t made the leap into musical theatre yet? The Equity Foundation is offering a rare opportunity for financial NSW Equity members to work with Australia’s leading teacher of audition technique for musical theatre, Queenie van de Zandt. This is a masterclass about auditioning for musical theatre. Queenie and a guest musical director will be offering a five hour format of Queenie’s celebrated weekend masterclass. Masterclass For Victorian Actors

The Equity Foundation, together with Film Victoria, is proud to announce a very special opportunity for Victorian Equity members; a one off opportunity to spend four hours workshopping scripts with Wesley Enoch, the writer and director of classic Australian theatre. Wesley will work with 20 financial Victorian members on Wednesday October 7 from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm at Chunky Move, 113 Sturt St, Southbank. Voice Workshop

The Melbourne Theatre Company’s voice consultant and dialect coach Anna McCrossin-Owen will host a voice workshop for 10 financial Equity members on Monday September 14, from 6pm – 8pm. Participants will need to wear comfortable clothing to move in and bring some text (ie short monologue) to use for exercises.
