Ombudsman Investigates Fairies |

The Workplace Ombudsman is currently investigating the producers of the children’s television series, The Fairies. The Fairies have now locked performers out after refusing to negotiate a collective agreement with Equity. The Australian Industrial Relations Commission is now involved, and negotiations with the producers continue.

Equity has become aware of a number of incidences in New Zealand where casting agents have charged performers for attending film and television auditions. Two recent cases include a US Pilot of NCIS, and the New Holland Picture’s The Truth About Men. The amount charged to performers in both cases was $75. Performers in Australia and New Zealand should not attend auditions where they have to pay to audition. |
