Ombudsman Investigates Fairies
Monday, 23 February 2009

The Workplace Ombudsman is currently investigating the producers of the children’s television series, The Fairies. The Fairies have now locked performers out after refusing to negotiate a collective agreement with Equity. The Australian Industrial Relations Commission is now involved, and negotiations with the producers continue.

 
Fight For ABC funding: Make Your Voice Heard

Australian performers have a proud history of campaigning for a vibrant and diverse ABC under successive governments, and with the federal budget approaching, again it’s crunch time for the ABC. Be sure to write to your local parliamentarian and encourage them to honour the Government’s election commitment to increase ABC funding. Equity's Roundabouts

Don’t Pay To Audition!
Tuesday, 03 February 2009

Equity has become aware of a number of incidences in New Zealand where casting agents have charged performers for attending film and television auditions. Two recent cases include a US Pilot of NCIS, and the New Holland Picture’s The Truth About Men. The amount charged to performers in both cases was $75. Performers in Australia and New Zealand should not attend auditions where they have to pay to audition.
