Life in the Clickstream: The Future of Journalism Report |
|
Wednesday, 26 November 2008 |
The Alliance today launched Life in the Clickstream: The Future of Journalism report. The report is the culmination of industry research and regular events involving executives, journalists, academics and commentators, and aims to build an accurate picture of the extent and pace of industry change, to manage that change for the benefit of the whole industry and journalists in particular. How will newsrooms look? How will journalists’ jobs change with technology and business conditions? How will journalism itself change? There is no doubt that some new tools, developed almost daily, will allow journalists to tell stories in vivid and exciting ways, using video, podcasts and slideshows, running full interviews online, showing documents and research trails for a richer experience.

Rupert Murdoch yesterday warned of job cuts "across the board" at his Australian operations after News Corporation reported a 30 per cent drop in first quarter profit. The announcement follows persistent reports of staff freezes, cost cutting and one-off redundancy deals, which are often inferior to the redundancy provisions of the collective agreement. If you, or someone you know, is offered a redundancy package please contact the Alliance on 1300 65 65 12. |
