Voluntary redundancies close at Ten
Wednesday, 31 October 2012
Applications for voluntary redundancies close today and Ten have indicated that forced redundancies will be necessary. The Commercial Television Guild (CTVG) will meet with Ten again on Monday to discuss numbers and ways of mitigating the impact of the redundancies.
As the redundancies are partly a result of proposed changes to the organisation and the workflow, further discussions will have to be had about the impact on employees that remain at Ten.
Members have a right to be represented throughout this process – if you have questions or concerns about your job and your future with Ten you should contact your local organiser or call 1300 137 363 to talk to an industrial officer.
We also need to hear from you about any suggestions you may have that may help reduce the impact of the changes, or that can maximise the positive aspects of this review process. Further consultation meetings will be held with members around the country and details will be sent out locally.
In a meeting with the CTVG Tuesday, October 30, Ten indicated it is yet to finalise new structures and organisation charts for News and Operations. They advised assessments of applications for voluntary redundancy should be completed by close of business today, with advice to applicants commencing tomorrow. They also hope to have new organisation charts completed by close of business today.
We have requested final advice on both the number of applicants for voluntary redundancy and the expected number of forced redundancies for each site by Thursday. The company has also agreed to provide a full list of vacant positions, and that every effort would be made to reduce the number of forced redundancies by exploring all available opportunities for redeployment.
A further bulletin will be issued when this information is available.
A meeting has been scheduled with the company for next Monday to discuss how these will be applied if they intend to force redundancies, and to ensure proper consultation before any forced redundancies occur.
